Zac Rinaldo is officially suspended from both the NHL and the AHL at the same time.

Rinaldo was suspended by the NHL on March 1st stemming from a check to the head of Cedric Paquette, defenceman for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was then sent down to Providence, where he continued his reign of terror. The AHL followed suit by suspending Rinaldo indefinitely pending a review of his check to the head of Kane Lafranchise, defenceman for Bridgeport. This is as per Mark Divver on Twitter:

I mentioned yesterday that the match penalty alone should finally warrant a review of the AHL by-laws on AHL eligibility of players suspended by other leagues Rinaldo Gets Match Penalty In The AHL/).

Now that the suspension is official and the news a player has simultaneous suspensions spreads, shedding a dark spot on player safety , I can’t see how they have any choice but to bring the issue to the table.
