The Truro Major Bantam Bearcats will have to wait one more day to save their season. It was supposed to be all on the line this Saturday at Colchester Legion Stadium in game two of a best of three playoff series. The game has been cancelled because of the weather and will be played Sunday instead.
The Bearcats were shut out in game one a week ago, losing 1-0. They’re trying to advance to the provincial tournament which will be hosted later this month by the team currently standing in their way: the Joneljim Cougars.
The Bearcats finished 6th in league play this season, three points ahead of the 7th seeded Cougars. This marks the first time in the history of the franchise they cracked the top 6 (6 seasons). Truro finished in 7th place in their inaugural 2010-2011 campaign, and again last year.
They did lose 6 in a row down the stretch including 6-4 and 3-2 losses to the Cougars, before finally getting back in the win column in their final regular season game. Still, based on the season overall, it would be disappointing not to advance to the Provincial tournament starting March 17 in Cape Breton.
