There’s been a lot of discussion about the initial 16-man Canadian World Cup roster, and I’m sure it’s the same in every country. With all the amazing players our country has, and the incredible 16 guys given first spots on the team, all people want to talk about is who’s NOT there. I’ve already read a great article by Cam Hasbrouck at The Hockey Writers, making a convincing case for Brad Marchand (http://thehockeywriters.com/brad-marchand-will-make-team-canada/).

The reality is though we could make a pretty solid case for enough guys to fill two rosters. I’m not going to do too much panicking on anyone until the final team is named. Sometimes guys are left off for no other reason than there’s only 16 spots at the moment.

It’s obviously fun to talk about and I love the discussions I’m seeing, but some people are pretty mad about the guys left off. It’s almost like a rose ceremony on the Bachelor and their favourite isn’t safe yet.

Just relax and enjoy the fact that we have so many top players.
