The Eastlink Nova Scotia Major Midget Final Series is heating up. Game two went tonight in Dartmouth as the Steele Subaru Major Midgets hosted the Cole Harbour Wolf Pack.
Dartmouth took game one with a suspiciously lopsided 5-1 score, but needed overtime for a 3-2 win to take a 2-0 series lead.
The two teams alternated goals with the Wolf Pack getting on the board first in both the first and second periods, only to have Dartmouth claw back each time, tying it at 2 early in the third period.
This game probably would have been over sooner if not for the insane play of Dartmouth goaltender Aidan Hosein thorough the first two periods. After recording a league record 7 regular season shutouts, Hosein has been particularly stingy in the playoffs. He headed into game two at 6-0 and had given up 1 goal or less in 4 of those 6 wins, with 1 shutout.
Hosein held his team in, and the Steele Subarus came alive in the third, firing 12 shots and tying the game. They got a 13th shot that went in as well, but it came just after the horn sounded to end the third, forcing the extra time.
Not letting off the gas at all, they eventually finished the job on the strength of their big guns.
The winning goal was fittingly scored by Luke Henman, from Evan MacKinnon and Andrew Coxhead. The All – Rookie line continues to defy logic and are now one win away from a berth in Atlantics.
Game three goes Tuesday night at Cole Harbour Place at 7:45 pm.
