Jordan Breen of the Glace Bay Jr. Miners has been suspended for the remainder of the 2016-2017 NSJHL season, including the playoffs.

The Hockey Nova Scotia Junior Council announced the decision just one day after Pictou Scotian player Luke Spicer was released from hospital where he underwent treatment for bleeding in the brain, as well as several lacerations and various other injuries.

Spicer was injured Thanksgiving Sunday in Trenton on an altercation with Breen, who had already been suspended three games by the NSJHL under rule 1.2, direct blow to the head.

The first place Glace Bay Miners (7-1) will play their first game without Breen on Friday night when they visit divisional rival Antigonish.

They return home Saturday to host, of all teams, the Pictou County Scotians.

Both games start at 7:30pm.
